News Roundup Fix
posted in Site News by swampgas on Nov 26th, 2001Edmon Uyan emailed me about how he stopped receiving our nightly news roundup emails....it seems as though my email bounce system is failing. I've reset the bounce flag on everyones' account (the bounce flag is set if the email bounces) to start over from scratch. From now on, if you suddenly stop receiving our news roundups, you can login and reset the bounce flag yourself. If the flag is set, there will be a button at the bottom of your preferences page. Approximately 144 out of 900 email addresses were reset (we have quite a large amount of people getting the news roundup). If anyone has suggestions on how to handle bounce messages on mailing lists more efficiently and reliably, go ahead and shoot me an email. The entire system, including the program to handle the mailing and maintenance, is written in PHP.
