MAME v0.75

posted in Emulator Release by narvick on Oct 13th, 2003

The grandaddy of emulators, MAME, has been updated by the MAME team today! This has been dubbed a "big fix" release. Only the Windows version is available for now. For those new to emulation, this is probably the most popular emulator in existence and emulates slews of arcade games. Here's a summarized version of what's new:
    General Source Changes
  • TESTDRIVERS still enabled (see note for v0.74u2)
  • Fixed bug in the time accounting for V60 which was causing Outrunners to run with flickering sprites and slow music
  • Fixed another V60 bug introduced in v0.74u2 which broke the V70 games (and further broke Outrunners)
  • Fixed some bugs introduced with the timer system changes awhile back. Hopefully this is the last of them... Fixes Exterminator and the Atari polygon games. Hopefully doesn't break anything in the process
  • Fixed Dorachan Orientation
  • Various bug fixes
  • Overhauled the Canyon Bomber driver with a number of minor fixes like correct RAM size and VBLANK duration
  • Improved Super Chase sample loading
  • Replaced instances of "inline", "static inline", and "static__inline" with "INLINE". This fixes some build problems with XMAME and makes things more consistent
  • Corrected CPU speeds, etc in snowbros.c
  • Reversed inptport.c changes to v0.74u1 as the version in v0.74u2 wasn't correctly merged, these will need resubmitting
  • Some Namcos22 improvements

  • New Games supported or promoted from GAME_NOT_WORKING Status:
  • Lady Frog
  • Sundance
  • Dodgem
  • Main Event (SNK)

  • New Clones supported or promoted from GAME_NOT_WORKING status:
  • Lunar Battle (prototype, later) (clone of Gravitar)
  • Cloak & Dagger (International Versions, Spanish, French, German)
  • Dig Dug (newer Atari rev)
  • Tempest (rev?)
  • Sub Hunter (Clone of depthch)
  • Route X (bootleg)

  • New Non-Working games/clones supported:
  • Task Force Harrier (Japan)
  • Various SF2 bootlegs
  • Gorkans
  • Whizz
  • Marine Date
