IPS source code

David Gray (aka "WaveMaster") wrote ZD today, and this is what he had to say: I'm the original author of the ISP.EXE tool for DOS. After all these years, I'm amazed to find that it's still being used to patch modern day ROMs. No, I didn't invent the IPS format -- but back in the day, there were no PC patchers available that worked. I "really" wanted to make the old SNES Street Fighter 2 patch work (the one that converted SF2 to a sortuv Champion Edition mode) -- thus I created the tool for PC users. Since I never coded anything outside of DOS/Turbo Pascal (yick!) I'm not able to enhance this program for Windows. I'm attaching a ZIP file with the tool, the documentation (which doesn't exist currently on your site) and for the first time, the Pascal source code (which I never leaked out to anybody, until now). Yeah, I know it's no big deal (an 8-year old Pascal program!) but it would be great if somebody could convert this to Win32 with a nice UI and the same features (i.e. logging and backups). PS: In the docs and code, you'll see reference to Spatula City, which is long since gone... Years ago, in order to post this, and have people take it seriously, I joined a group called "$ceptic". After this posted, "$ceptic" was never heard from again. =) Go figure. I miss the good-ol'-days -- which is probably why I enjoy emulation so much. You can download it from our General Utilities page.
