Happy 1 Year Anniversary

Exactly 1 year ago, Brad "Zophar" Levicoff handed Zophar's Domain over to me and moved on in life. We're still going strong and I'm more than proud to be a part of the biggest and best site around. A few days ago, I had asked Brad if he wanted to say anything...here's what he writes: Hi everyone, Brad Levicoff (or 'Zophar') here! It's been a while since I've last spoken to everyone in the emulation community, and I'm glad to have the oppurtunity to talk to everyone today. First, I'd like to start off by expressing my sympathy to all the americans who died in the most vicious terrorist attack in the nation's history. I found out while I was in Computer Science class last week, and I have to say that for the duration of the day, I was just in shock. Living in Philadelphia (which is right in between New York and Washington, DC), all of the schools were let out early. Even the college, which never closes for anything, was closed. So I want to remind everyone to please give a donation to the Red Cross. Doesn't matter if it's $ 5 or $ 500 - every little bit helps. I'm eagerly anticipating the coming weeks/months because this won't be a 4 week 'quickie' war like Desert Storm - this will be a long, drawn out battle against terrorism. On to more pleasant topics. I've been following the website on and off throughout the past year and I'm very proud of what it's become. While leadership is truly never easy, I feel that Sam is doing an excellent job given the very low returns of running a website. The ZD store looks to be coming along just fine - it's a great idea that I sometimes thought about, but never really had the money to start. I'm glad to see it in motion! For those of you wondering, myself and "Death Adder" submitted our winner for the Mario Paint contest a little bit ago - and hopefully it will be announced in the coming days. I also wanted to give a little honorable mention to the gentleman that submitted the Nine Inch Nails "Closer" arrangement - it was a noble effort. :) Believe it or not, even a year later after going back to school, I'm still receiving e-mails from fans! The most common questions I get are "What are you doing now?" and "Are you ever coming back?" So I'll try to answer some of the most frequent ones right here. "What are you doing now"? Currently, I'm attending classes at Community College of Philadelphia. Physics 140 (Physics I with Calculus involed), Computer Science 211 (Computer Science III - Discrete Structures in C++) and Math 172 (Calculus II). I'm also still in the retail field - have to make a living somehow, right? "Are you ever coming back to ZD"? Sorry folks - not anytime in the near future. Time just doesn't allow it. :( But never say never. "Can you send me ROMs?" Sure, when the year according to the Hebrew calandar reads 5871. "Do you still like pro-wrestling?" Not really. Haven't watched a show in over 6 months. Another question I get a lot (believe it or not): "Are you going to the Tool concert when it comes to Philadelphia?" Actually, yes! So for the 4 of you that e-mailed me about that - it's this Thursday at 7:30pm at the First Union Center. Maybe I'll see you there! :) For those wishing to contact me, my e-mail address has changed to zophar@covad.net. Voicenet stopped providing DSL a few months ago, and soon I fear Covad will be no more as well. Time for Comcast@Home, no? That's really the only way to contact me as of current - I very rarely use AOL IM or ICQ, and my IRC visits are far and few between. I drop by Talk of the Town now and then too... So, in closing, I'd like to thank everyone for sticking by ZD even after I left, and I also want to welcome all of the new blood that just started visiting. Be good to the current boss of ZD - he has much to deal with on a daily basis and receives very little return for it. If you enjoy the site, please, let the entire staff know it! Thanks for listening, feel free to contact me, and have a great week! L'shana Tovah Teekatavu to all jews out there celebrating the new year this week. Thanks for visiting ZD! Brad Levicoff Thursday, September 20th @ 12:30AM zophar@covad.net I said this back in 1998 when I joined and I still say it today: Long live Zophar's Domain and everything we stand for.
