Arcade@Home v0.37a

posted in Frontend News by swampgas on Jul 5th, 2001

The most widely used Mame frontend a@h was updated....here's what the author had to say:
Because of the 3,000 game limit that I put in Arcade@Home back when MAME had only 350 games, Arcade@Home v0.37a is released. I remember saying that 3,000 games was more than MAME would ever emulate (just like Bill Gates and his 640k comment). So I raised the limit now to 5,000 games (because MAME will never emulate more than 5,000 games =). Oh, and it's still is designed to work with DOS MAME, not MAMEW. I wasn't quite ready for a release that supported MAMEW so I couldn't release it. Anyway, if you want to run this version with MAMEW, just rename MAMEW.EXE to MAME.EXE and change your default and game settings to "NONE". Not all the controls work with MAMEW, but it does run just the same.
And here's the list of changes:
  • Supports up to 5,000 games (this gets rid of the Run-time error "9").
  • Neo-Geo games and clones are listed and filtered correctly.
  • Added Update Installed/Uninstalled function which updates which games are installed based on game verify results.
  • Verify ROM reports were optimized and are now SUPER fast and it also modifies the game list installed status.
  • New preferences option that allows Arcade@Home to remember which games had good and bad ROM sets from session to session. This speeds up startup time if it's turned on and keeps your list accurate.
  • Reports are now in html format which can be used for additional features in the future.
  • Updated favorites functions with new add and remove menu options.
  • Upgraded to newest VB6 listview, this fixes several little problems at the expense of being a little slower.
  • Uses MAME32 standard of screen shots named snap.zip instead of images.zip.
  • Deleted no longer needed game help from game info tab.
  • Changed Download feature to use Internet Explorer by default instead of Getright. This feature is still not supported but I'm working to make it better.
  • Fixed bug where "not available for default settings" was left in field after default configurations was canceled.
  • New logo & graphics.
  • Added HotRod SE, Stick-It, and Gravis GrIP joystick options.
  • Corrected vesa2l mode.
  • Fixed alternate executable bug.
  • Added depth=auto & set to default.
  • Detects if it can't create the mame.cfg file because you're running from a CD or other read-only device.
  • & sign in game name doesn't show strange things.
  • I'm sure lots of stuff I forgot to write down also. Download from the Arcade frontends.
