adlib music archive is now open!

One of my pet projects for quite some time, the adlib music archive has finally been opened to the public. Beginning in 1989 and continuing until around 1996, most DOS-based games for the IBM-PC relied on the adlib (opl2/opl3) sound card for their music output. Some folks may be more familiar with the Sound Blaster, which was Creative Labs' "improved" version of the opl2, along with DAC support. I am a huge fan of adlib music, but there is little support for it on the internet due to the complex method of ripping tunes. Because of this, I have ripped over 200 tunes myself and placed them for download. Music may be listened to and enjoyed via Simon Peter's AdPlug or AdPlay software. I recommend using the DOS-based player, AdPlay, for the highest level of quality. Otherwise, the AdPlug program is available as a plugin for WinAMP. The grand opening features downloadable music ripped from the following games:
  • 4d Boxing
  • Alone in the Dark
  • Alone in the Dark 2
  • Arkanoid: Revenge of DoH
  • Back to the Forest
  • Body Blows
  • Captain Dynamo
  • Cobra Mission
  • DJ Puff's Volcanic Eruption
  • Deathtrack
  • Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist
  • Goblins 2: The Prince Buffoon
  • Goblins Quest 3
  • Home Alone
  • Jones in the Fast Lane
  • Mad Paradox
  • Magic Land Dizzy
  • Metal & Lace: Battle of the Robobabes
  • Monster Bash
  • Nyet III: Revenge of the Mutant Stones
  • Pee & Gity Special
  • Quest for Glory
  • Quest for Glory III: Wages of War
  • Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness
  • Rastan
  • Simpsons, the
  • Super Tetris
  • Super Fighter
  • Titus the Fox
Please stop by and enjoy some great adlib music, and help keep the dream alive by spreading this news to your friends and associates. Thanks! Visit the adlib music archive!
