Other Emulators

Name Description
bsnes bsnes is an emulator that began development on 2004-10-14. The focus of the emulator is on accuracy, debugging functionality, and clean code.

The emulator does not focus on things that would hinder accuracy. This includes speed and game-specific hacks for compatibility. As a result, the minimum system requirements for bsnes are very high.

Emulator is available for Windows, Linux & Mac.
SNEmul This emulator has improved much since its first release. It runs at a decent speed, and has very good sound emulation and it also support transparancy effects. It also has a very nice and easily configurable GUI. Extra features include a mod ripper, which is a very neat feature, and more. This is a good emulator that is almost as good as Snes9x. It's worth the download.
Snes9x There are so many ports with different versions, so just check the filename to see the version number...v1.19 has added 3DFX support that will become the standard for Snes9x soon. for v1.16a is for libc5 based Linux machines and features several small improvements.v1.15 is the new version that runs Tales of Phantasia. This version also has mode7 fixes for Mario Kart and other.v1.10 has improved SFX support and now runs MarioKart, sorta... Also new netplay for up to 5 players. Snes9x's cpu is still written in assembly(i386 systems) and some parts of the emulator have been optimized in this new version (1.05). Snes9X now features transparencies and preliminary SuperFX support and is again one of the best SNES emulators for all systems, and the best one for all Unix systems! The source code is available from the SNES emulators page.
Note: v1.43 does not include NetPlay support!
Snes9x GTK This is a port of Snes9x using GTK. It has it's own GoogleCode page, and though unofficial, appears to have some support on the Snes9x forums.
