Editroid
NES Utility in Game Specific CategoryIf you can't hack Metroid, turn to Editroid. This is a full featured editor where you can visually edit the game's map, structures (the sets of blocks that comprise the game), and more, even the item placement. It's a very good piece of work. *Note* Keep in mind that it requires the .Net Framework 2.0.

I can change what item is which but i can’t relocate an item to a different part of the map. It seems items are fixed to points on the map. I want to move an item to a screen that has none.

This version is way outdated. The newest version is Editroid 3.7 released September 21st 2014. There have been a LOT of changes since the 1.2.1 release. The description of this update and a link to download it from romhacking.net can be found on the authors page at http://snarfblam.com/words/?p=528
Also... the authors website link you posted http://ilab.ahemm.org/editroid/ <---- this link is no longer working and returns a 500 Internal Server Error.
