Relativism.

How could it be any other way?

The universe doesn't give a damn --- it brutally massacres people by the thousands every day just through the march of time, which leaves any morality up to us... and we're very fickle creatures.

Re: Relativism.

Define "moral law."

Is it a dictate that must be adhered to and cannot be violated; the same as a physical law? If that's the case, then surely no moral laws exist, as every conceivable transgression has already taken place.

Is it an absolute social law? Are there things that every society or group finds abominable --- no matter of history or culture? This also cannot be true, as social considerations vary in the extreme; for example, in some African tribes, cannibalism is very much accepted, and ancient cultures, such as classical Greece, held, let us say, very different views toward sex and relationships than we do today.

No, I got it, and it is actually that sentiment that I'm shaking my head over.

Re: Right or Wrong?

It's no different than something like "Is it right or wrong for an adult male person to be 5 feet tall?" No one (at least no one I have heard of) can control their height. Still, some people are going to say wrong. It's all about deviancy. I should revive my deviancy scale post...

The only reply necessary

I think the perception that some people have of homosexuality being wrong is wrong. As long as you don't let that perception dictate your actions when you interact with homosexual people, then you can do whatever the hell you want.

Why is it so hard for people to agree to disagree on this issue? If you don't like what Elazul said, consider the fact that homosexuality just will never be acceptable to everyone.

First off, no. Now, let's back up a moment.

Relativism is exactly this and nothing more. Dictionary.com defines it as:

A theory, especially in ethics or aesthetics, that conceptions of truth and moral values are not absolute but are relative to the persons or groups holding them.

Nowhere is it implied that every man can rightfully bend the world to his concept of morality, only that every man has his own concept.

It would be an anarchist's utopia.
