    Harvest Moon (SNES) Thread

I've just got a ton of information I've been sitting on with Harvest Moon, that I decided to start this thread. Releases, information, ideas, whatever (as long as it's Harvest Moon related. That said: HME 4 has been released! A sample of what's new: -The new Dialogue Editor automatically...

    SMILE version 1.32

SMILE version 1.32 is out. A few bug fixes that were missed in 1.23, including a very major (ie- will crash your game) bug that would happen when changing item definitions in the PLM editor. New features and whatnot, but I won't list them all here, as I can't remember what version release I...

    ASM Screenshots (Super Metroid)

Most the work I've done on Alliance has been ASM and therefore not the greatest for screenshots. I've decided to start posting some now though, as I'm getting to some important products: Destructive with Magnet and Blue Balls... Dropping bombs with Magnet and Beam balls... Saboten Ball...

    Slave... Safe Mode... Help?!!

Was trying to install Service Pack 2 for XP for a friend (yes, they already had SP1 installed). I made sure to make a restore point before doing SP2, but the restore point got erased by the SP2 installation?! Anyway, once the SP2 installation was done, the system could only boot into Safe Mode...

    Computer turns on with power?

My computer is turned off... I am not home... There is a temporary power outage... Electricity comes back on and my computer boots itself up?! When I plug my computer in, the same thing happens (ie- my computer boots itself). Anyone have any clues on how to make this "normal"? <P...

    TileLayerPro 1.1 Bug Fix

TileLayerPro 1.1 assumes that if a file is being read in a certain format (say, SNES 4bpp), it has a certain header that needs to be ignored. The result? Open a bin or gfx file in TLP and tell it that it's SNES format . . . You can't see or edit the first $200 bytes of the file! Thanks to...

    SMILE Version 1.0 Released!

...and SABS is obsolete<img src=smilies/headshake.gif> Here's what's new: 1) Loads and loads of bug fixes. 2) A back up and recovery system! Each time you exit SMILE, a back up is made with just you most recent changes (to keep the files small). If an irrecoverable error happens, you can walk...

    SMILE, IPS'ing, and pizza

Sorry about the delays with SMILE version 1.0 . . . It's almost done now (finally). I'm in the process of adding IPS support (SMILE can currently create a patch, but I need to add patching tonight). Anyway, a couple thoughts and questions: -I could easily get SMILE to ignore the header when...

    Low Quality Screenshots

Actually, only one shot today, but it'll give a clue about what I've been working on. Look close and you'll see what's so important about this shot: In any case, the "hard" ASM is getting done in Alliance (still alive) now. Screenshots will appear in this thread from time to time. <P...

    Huge SMILE release (0.70)

Most people have version 0.30, though 0.40 had been released at one point. The new version is 0.70. Why such a jump? -Convert scenery palettes to TLP/YY-Char format... Save them, of course -Decompress scenery graphics into GFX files that can be easily edited in your favorite tile editor -Edit...

    Harvest Moon: Legends

Harvest Moon (SNES) hack being released on Wednesday . . . Not completed, but released (sigh). Lots is changed and is being changed, though you couldn't tell by looking at it as most changes are ASM only. Harvest Moon fans should check out the teaser page below...

    Harvest Moon (SNES) testers needed

I know where I *want* this to lead (2 projects actually), but don't know where it's going to go . . . Could be a huge hack, could be just a mini. In any case, I'm going to need beta testers. I'm doing some ASM changes today to fix at least 2 of the biggest annoyances I find in the game. After...

    SMILE version 0.40

SMILE is now at version 0.40 . . . Here's what's new: -set bomb timer -set maximum # of bombs, beams, or missiles Samus can use at once -easier handling of music control/track -barrier tiles (you go through them, enemies don't) -create/load/save enemy palettes to/from Tile Layer That last one...

    Fake Screenshots

No major progress in the way of screenshots around here, so I figured I may as well post some fake screenshots. Feel free to do the same . . . Maybe someone will be motivated to do some real screenshots after seeing some of these? *If you recognize the games (you should), you should easily...

Is there any love for Harvest Moon anymore?

Does anyone still play/like this game? I'm thinking about doing some minor ASM hacks to make it act like a *real* game . . . Such as making it possible to die. Is anybody thinking about doing a Harvest Moon hack? Is anybody interested in playing a Harvest Moon hack? Feedback? <P...

SMILE version 0.30, plus a beta help file

SMILE has a few fixes that were forgotten in the last release, plus a few behind the scenes additions that will be fully implemented in the next release. The mini-map editor is less buggy... Show Intro/Red Powerbomb no longer crash the program when cleared... Enable/Disable portions of the...

    Level design samples (Super Metroid)

I made a post a while back about searching for assistance in my upcoming "real" hack. Well, I've officially started the project now. Won't be ready for levels to be edited yet (as I may be wiping the level data out completely to start out with, plus SMILE needs one or two updates to assist in...

    SMILE version 0.25 released!

SMILE has finally been updated. This version has a critical fix for a bug in the Pointer Editor (which could basically render your rom useless). A Map Editor has also been added. You can now preview the tile types of the room to look for "holes" in your level. A File Comparer has been added...

    Need help on a "project"...

For those of you who don't know, Metroid Arena is just a mini-hack used to test SMILE and ASM coding. The project is fairly large (especially Ceres) and getting larger, but the time is coming to move onto the "real" project. I've got an idea (don't we all) for a very in depth Super Metroid...

    Metroid Arena (screenshots)

In no particular order, here are some sneak peaks at my next arena hack . . . This one is still just a mini-hack, but it is going to be much more extensive than my previous mini's: People have been playing around with this for testing purposes, though it hasn't *officially* been released...
