Why does the media play games?

ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NPR......the list could go on for days.

More than 200 people, mostly children were murdered by a ruthless band of thugs today in Beslan, Russia.

These killers have been refered to by the media as "insurgents", "militants", "rebels" as well as a vast number of other names that do not fit them as appropriately as what they really are.

They are TERRORISTS! Plain and simple. The mainstream media refuses to refer to these animals as terrorists, and why?

It's because the driving force behind these maniacs, is a so called religion of peace. ISLAM drove those terrorists to kill 200+ people. Just as it had to the monsters behind 9/11, behind the beheadings of Daniel Pearl, Paul Johnson, Nick Berg & Kim Sun-li, behind countless other acts of terror in this world.

Yes all of these murderers had one driving force behind their actions. Their own brand of Islam and the media refuses to accept it.

I agree. And these ruthless terrorist fucks need to be completely wiped off our Earth so this kind of tragedy doesn't happen. Nothing makes me sadder than this.

It's not the actual religon that is the problem, it's people that are the problem. I wish that human nature did not have a dark streak, but it does.

I second that. I havnt gone to see Farenheit 9/11 because i heard there are some very violent real images. I hate opening threads like that.

My cynnical view: They haven't been confirmed as Islamic yet, therefore they cannot *possibly* be terrorists. Take that with a huge lump of sarcasm, if you don't mind. I've been thorougly disgusted with the American media for .. oh.. about four years.

Islam is about as responsible for this situation as Doom was for Columbine. Virtually every religion in existance professes peace. The religion isn't at fault, the people are.

Heh. I heard on CNN that survivors heard the 'terrorists' saying that they're killing them in the name of Allah and Islam, they plan on dying, and taking them with them, etc, etc. And that 7 of the 20 rebels were Islamic militiants (of Al Qaeda).

MOSCOW – Russian investigators said Arab operatives linked to Al Qaida played a major role in the takeover of a Russian school in which 400 people were killed.

Russian officials said authorities have determined that 10 of the 32 suicide attackers who took over a high school in Beslan in North Ossetia last week were nationals from several Arab countries. Most of the attackers were Chechens and Ingush who had been trained at Al Qaida camps in Afghanistan.

The 10 Arab nationals came from Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Syria, officials said. They said security forces seized notebooks in Arabic in the school taken over by insurgents. Officials said survivors told authorities that some of the captors spoke Arabic during the three-day hostage ordeal.

All of the captors were said to have been killed, but three accomplices were arrested, Middle East Newsline reported.

The Arab nationals were said to have been recruited in the Middle East and hosted by Shamil Basayev, head of the Chechen insurgency and aligned with Al Qaida.

"We're hoping to release additional information over the next few days," an official said. "But precise details will require cooperation from our allies."
The officials said the attackers were trained in Al Qaida camps in Afghanistan and financed by Abu Omar Al Seif, regarded as a leading Al Qaida operative and the organization's representative in Chechnya.

Al Seif, identified as the chief Islamic ideologue in the Chechen insurgency, was brought to Chechnya in 1995 by Saudi national Samir Saleh Abdullah Al Suwailem, known as Abu Khattab. Abu Khattab was said to have been killed in 2002.

Officials said Basayev received Saudi financial aid for at least a decade, most of it through Al Seif. They said Basayev and Al Seif employed hundreds of Saudi volunteers for suicide and other mass casualty attacks in Chechnya and other parts of Russia as well as raised funds required for the attack on the school in Beslan.

In December 2003, Federal Security Service spokesman Sergei Ignatchenko said virtually all of the suicide attacks in Russia over the last few years were organized by Al Seif and Abu Al Walid. Ignatchenko identified Al Walid as responsible for the Arab fighters in Chechnya.

"Major financial resources reach Al Walid and Abu Omar from extremist centers in a series of Arab countries," Ignatchenko was quoted as saying by the Itar-Tass news agency.

Several Middle East countries planned to increase security cooperation with Russia, officials said. On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was scheduled to meet Israeli leaders in an effort to pave the way for expanded security cooperation. Saudi Arabia and Turkey have also agreed to increased security cooperation with Moscow. Victims of the insurgency attack included at least one Turkish national.

"The recent terrorist act in Russia has showed the importance of international cooperation in fight against terrorism," Turkish Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu said.

I think the point that Shamanix was trying to make (which may have been missed because it took me a few read overs to get his meaning) is that their religion/ethnicity should not even be a factor here. They are terrorists because they took a school full of children hostage and killed them. Islam, being Arabic, or anything else should have nothing to do with this. Whether they were linked to Al Queda? Sure that matters. But either way those responsible for this should be hunted down.

What really sucks is that overall, this is gonna get worse before it gets better. I'll save the flamebait for...........well, no I won't. I find it reassuring that all that time spent in Iraq to fight terror has brought us to this point. [/sarcasm] If you leave the problem alone, the problem will spread... Just like cancer, it doesn't go away by itself. Treat the core of the problem, and it goes away. Nit pick at it, and it will just continue to spread.

To disenheart the terrorists, show them we mean business by going after the core problem. You know, that little group called Al Qaeda. And take out that skinny fucktard leader of theirs.

See, now that the media found something that suggests they MIGHT POSSIBLY MAYBE IN SOME WAY be affiliated with al Qaeda, they're terrorists. "al Qaeda" links doesn't mean jack - it could be that their cousin's brother's sister'ss uncle's newphew's former roommate knows someone in al Qaeda. =P Anyhow, the liberal dose of sarcasm I said to take my last post with? Yeah, you totally missed that.
