Trying to connect cell phone to computer using wireless card.

So, today I got a new cell phone, and I wanted to see if I could use my computer's internet for my cell phone, by sharing it... My Nokia 6103 has a "packet data/access point" connectivity option, and after typing my wireless card's IP in for one of the fields, the cell phone seemed to be connecting to the computer; there was a new item in the list of network stuff, though I'm not 100% sure that's the phone. I try to connect to this new network item, and it asks for a WEP password. I don't know how to change or find out what its WEP password is, and when I try to connect anyway, it says, "This is an access point network, you're not set up to accept these. Do blah, blah, and blah to allow it." I would follow the advice of the prompt if the options that I need to change didn't require the phone's supposed WEP password, so... Hopefully somebody has some experience doing this.

For the record, I'm using windows XP, and I kinda suck at networking, although I could set up two computers to share files with wireless cards. I pretty much want to do this so I can put some files like music and wallpapers on my phone, from my comp. I wouldn't have any problem hosting the files, so I could download them if I needed to...

If it's illegal or not possible to use outside internet access, I'd still like to set the phone up with the wireless card, so I can put files on it without having to buy an extra cable...

One more thing, what's the file system on the Nokia 6103?

Edit: And I don't wanna use my minutes for internet :p

Talk to your cellphone provider about it. You'll probably have to hook up an addition to your plan if you want to stream over access to your laptop from your phone.

For example, I have a Treo 650 with Sprint. Unlimited Sprint PCS Wireless (data transfer) through my phone ONLY is $10/month. If I want to stream it over to a WiFi card, it's something like $49.99/month.

Of course there are ways around this, but I've honestly never tried. It involves loading a hacked firmware onto your phone, which is something I wouldn't recommend unless you were 100% confident in what you were doing.

You've got it the wrong way around. :)

He wants to take his computer internet access - dsl or cable - and somehow use his wi-fi card or a wireless router, to share his home connection with his cell.

Why the hell he would want to do that, I don't know. I guess so he can "BROWSE THE INTERNET FROM ANY ROOM IN HIS HOUSE"... without using his minutes.

Me? I have a laptop.

As far as I know, you can't use WiFi for that. Does the phone have bluetooth? If so, that's the way to go.

Yeah, it has bluetooth, but I haven't worked with it before, and I'm pretty sure I don't have a bluetooth device on my computer's end. If the thing that I have to buy is cheap, I may buy it.

You can get a Bluetooth USB dongle for less than $10, but it's probably the same price as whatever cable you'd buy.
