What the fuck kind of person would be compelled to vote against him, just because of the color of his skin? What pisses me off is that THIS IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN FIGHTING AGAINST FOR THE PAST 200 FUCKING YEARS, and these fuckwads would vote for McCain, JUST BECAUSE OBAMA IS BLACK???

I believe that the democrats controlling the government would bad right now. We have no money and they will spend every last cent we have. I also think bush is a fucking dumbfuck with the stimulus shit. Thats allot of resources just fucking being blown for bullshit. We need a president that will save money and start finding ways to import money to us.

Weren't many of the deep south states firmly democratic until civil rights came about in the 60's? Or is that more of a case of the (other) politics of the two parties shifting? For example, I've heard that the politics of the republican and democratic parties during the civil war were almost the reverse of what they are now.

I agree, whatever the reasons, it's interesting to see such people desire a blue president of any race.

fwiw West Virginia split from Virginia when Virginia chose to secede. Not necessarily for moral reasons, but there weren't many slave owners in those counties west of the Appalachian Mountains.

Slavery is a major cause of racial tension throughout the country, even in the northern states. The trouble was that freed slaves would start out poor, so wherever they went, they'd automatically have a diminished social status. The majority of African Americans are descended from slaves, so you'll likely see prejudice against them anywhere you go in the US. Rural areas will of course be worse because of their relative isolation.

Funny thing about it, if it wasn't a secret ballot and they got vote receipts they could have proven the Buchanan votes were counted wrong. But the idea that someone was such a zombie they didn't read the ballot makes me think they deserve it.
I sit for a long time making sure I vote the right one on a bubble ballot with at large councillors, knowing one can miss align things.
No matter they can still just report any tally they want. Who'd know or be able to prove it; after all is there a web site with every voter's name and who they report they voted for? No. Is there a receipt to back up your claim. Is there anyone asking questions often enough?

Oh my point about colored and so on....they don't if it isn't a Republicrat, Democrat first and Republican maybe second. They will go white democrat before black GOP even then.
