The Orange Bowl

I dunno who else here is really into college football, but if any of you just watched the (nearly 5 hour long) Orange Bowl... holy shit. That was one crazy game, especially with all the missed field goals. Congrats to Penn State for pullin' this one out in the third overtime.

Now we're down to the Rose Bowl tomorrow night. Mmmbitches. Go USC.

As a PSU fan, all I can say is .

Yeah, the two winningest coaches of all time went head-to-head. Yeah, triple overtime. Yeah, my heart skipped several beats. Fine. Very exciting.

But come on. 19 total penalties? Four missed field goals and one missed extra point? Something like five players down on each team, with one NFL hopeful (Posluszny) possibly seriously injured? The coaches did an excellent job with play-calling, but that was some ugly football. I hope the Rose Bowl doesn't play itself out like that.

I agree, that game was really ugly. Penalties up the ass and injuries all over, along with a ton of mistakes (kicking and otherwise). However, despite all the negatives, it was pretty entertaining.

But what really caught me off guard this morning was newscasters talking about it as being "one of the best bowl games ever." I dunno where they pulled that shit from, but apparently they either didn't watch the game or don't know much about football.

Agreed. Of course, now they're saying last night's Rose Bowl was the best game ever. On that, though, I don't think they're too far off. Except perhaps for Bush, USC was in top form... and Vince Young's performance last night was mind-blowing. One for the ages, no doubt.

Indeed. I've never really liked Bush a whole lot though. He always just seems a little too full of himself--same goes for Vince Young. I was really pulling for USC; I think Pete Carroll's a great coach, and Leinart & White both kick ass. All in all, that was a great game. It'll be interesting to see where Matt Leinart ends up come draft day.
