State of Utah

You wouldn't think any single state of the union could harass its own citizens, but you better believe it. Fuck you, Utah.

don't i know it. I have an 8 year history here contributing to their corporate economy and community. i just had to beg a judge to release me from jail to witness the birth of my child.

what was i in for? possession of a spec of marijuana dust. not even enough to do anything with.

but yeah, no sweat. after i complete their probation period, i'm off to colorado. any state that doesn't incarcerate good people for personal and private pot use is OK in my book.

Dude, I agree. The history of Utah is fucking insane. Mormonism and polygamy come to mind. Utahns to this day still practice polygamy. Don't get me started on Mormonism. A religion founded on giving university degrees to people who really don't deserve them. If you don't believe me you should attend a Mormon church. They require church members to pay tithing and fast offering which only go to fund more churches and institutions for their beliefs. You are dealing with a very messed up society of people. You are better off if you don't live in Utah.

Well, given context you could still be laughed at here. I seem to recall something in the bill of rights that says you won't be persecuted for stating your beliefs. Does Utah suddenly think that they are exempt from that?

No they don't suddenly. They have always felt that way in the sense that they hold onto a persecution complex. The reason mormons are in utah is because the pioneers of the 1800s crossed the plains to escape persecution from the rest of the country.

then after banishing polygamy from their official creed, they were able to receive statehood. it's all downhill from there.

unfortunately in many cases, the persecuted have become the persecutor. such is life.

i see a familiar theme in that for america. we once stood up against tyranny in the foundation of this country. now i believe we are the greatest tyrant in the world.

You are correct on many things. Ten percent of of all earnings before paying bills or anything belong to the church. To be considered a member in good standing you must meet this requirement. But, keep in mind the Mormons have no paid clergy either, that money is not going to pay preachers or missionaries (whom all support themselves fincancially). Also, the faster offering goes directly to a fund that specifically goes to the needy and the church uses none of that fund for building churches or anything like that. Just so you know.

And its not mainsream mormons who practice polygamy or anything against the law at all. Mormons are generally good people who consider family life very important. Go have dinner with an observant younger Mormon family sometime and you will feel quite neglected when remembering your own childhood. At least I did.

Don't hate on someone because of their religion, especially when you show ignorance to their beliefs and practices. This kind of rant is no different than a fundie Moslem speaking about Jews, or fundie Chr^stian talking Moslems.

Human beings prove themselves through their actions, and no ignorant generalizations prove true about differing faiths, races, or ethnic groups.

It pisses me off to hear ignorant, pissed off, internet "atheists" and "agnostics" attempt to prove "enlighted" they are by pointing out another group, usually a belief system or organize religion/cult are inferior in some way.

I have attended BYU and some of the most brilliant professors I had were Mormon. They are an excellent university, and I assure you degrees are earned.

I'm sure it _seems_ like they were intelligent, but the fact remains that no one who thinks there are good actions and evil actions is intelligent, as he has traversed the linguistic Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and thus has become a case of the microcosm severing himself from the macrocosm. By thinking that he will "surely die" he makes it so, as he does not realize that he is God when he reads this, relegating the idea of "God" to a macrocosm he is separated from. As such, "death" only occurs when one has an inaccurate view of reality caused by traversing that particular linguistic tree, thus separating oneself from the universe and creating the illusion of mortality.

I think I do pretty well with english as a second launguage... And I said that militant atheists and agnostics are ignorant. Preaching the benefits if their worldview just as loud as Christians, and shoving their beliefs down people's throat. They have many things in common with the religions which they deride.

I agree to an extent.

In general, far too much attention is paid to what people think and not enough to what they do.

What goes on in someone's head is none of my business -- I should be concerned with whether they're kind and courteous or brandishing a knife.

It's the Mormon Church that's the main problem to the citizens in Utah.
