Sometimes I hate my computer

OK the fan on the power supply was making bad sounds so I only used it when needed. Then one day it wouldn't see the hard drive. Knoppix = life saver. The data is still there but something happed so I won't boot. One new power supply later. Switched out the drive but the computer wouldn't see the new drive. New cable, no go. Only thing I can think is the power supply spiked and took out the IDE channel. I'm not useing the channel and everything seems ok. Anyone have anything like this happen before?

Yup, last week. I couldn't boot ide0, wouldn't even acknowledge there was even a drive or cd player there. I thought the same thing but just for the hell of it I unplugged my computer and took out the battery on the motherboard for about 15 minutes to clear the bios. Booted up I made all my bios settings again and behold windows boots very quickly without a problem.

You may have a corrupted bios so do what I did above. Also reinstall you motherboard drivers, they could be corrupted also.
