SNES graphics editing

I started working on a new translation project - Chrono Trigger.
It is going great, about 10% is complete. But there is a problem.
I want to make some font changes, but I have no expirience in hacking SNES graphics, since it is very different from a classic NES graphic. So please give me quick help, or give me some tut about this. Thanks in advance.

Is that so? I didn't know that. I'll try it out.

Personally, I can't stand Java in any form, so TM is a non-option if you ask me. TLP and YY-CHR are my tools of choice.

Insofar as CT's font is concerned though, it's variable width, so there's probably going to be a table in the game somewhere telling it how many pixels wide each character is. If you change the font at all, you're going to have to alter the width table accordingly.

Thanks for the help, but I found a way to work around this. The translation is now going nicely.

Woah, kick ass dude, you're gonna translate this? I wonder how different Square made it when they translated it. This is gonna be like that FF6 project the other group is doing. I hope all goes well. So far it seems you're doing great. When do you think you'll be done?

I'll use my free time as much as I can and I'm hoping to translate this in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Are you serious? It takes people a year to do this kind of thing. How can it take only 2-3 weeks?

I don't think this is a retranslation from Japanese to English. Looks like this guy translates from English to a language that I don't recognize. Chrono Shift (the codename for the Japanese to English retranslation of Chrono Trigger) was one of Sky Render's old projects and is a current RPGONE project. It has no project page yet, but it'll aparrently become the main focus once Slayers is finished.

You should just get a good sprite editor that supports SNES graphics, like (wraith)'s DirectEdit. That is my editor of choice. It also supports NES, as well as GB, GBC, Genesis, and a whole ton of other formats.

Sounds right. I can usually distinguish between Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese, but I'm lost when it come to pretty much any European language more obscure than French or German.

Croation is a very simple language.
It comes from old Slavenian language and it is similiar to Russian, Ukrain, Bosnian and Serbian.

Why do a retranslation? I really don't get that Sky Render.
Why to translate a game that is already translated?

because sometimes the game is translated poorly and can be very inaccurate at times

But we still play it and like it even with poor translation.

So why are they tackling Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger and not Breath of Fire 2 again?
