Opinions: Coolest comic book hero and villain

It has always been my belief that opinion threads are the best, so; who do you think is the coolest hero, and the coolest villain?

For me, the coolest hero is Carnage, simply due to awesomeness.

So, what are your "coolest" comic book heroes and villains?

I don't read comics either, and I don't know much about villains...but really, I've fantasized about being Cyclops from X-men since I was a kid. Seriously, who wouldn't want to be able to shoot destructo-lasers out of their eyes?

Wolverine has been my favorite since I was a kid. I always thought that Magneto was a realistic villian.

Wow... I never noticed how dead the boards were stay offline for about a month and almost nothing happens.
Err... either way I've never really been a fan or "Super Hero" / "Super Villains" that pre-dominantly overwhelm the American comicbook genre. That's probably why I've always read manga. Ofcourse I think because manga are made to have a beging and ending, rather than this endless hocking or the same thing over and over forever, makes it a different sort of animal and can't really be compared on the same level.

And even if I when to go there I don't think much would be accompliced. I mean personally a brilliant manga hero is some one like Kenshin Himura, but really a modified historical figure probably is ineligible for the same sort of discussion as who is the coollest comic character. I might as well enter a discussion claiming Gandolf the coolest wizard, while some one points out that Lord of the Rings isn't a comic book.

I guess any point I actually had is, the coolest hero and villans would be characters who aren't some generic "Super" character. Oddly that kind of rules out all famous "Super" heros and we are left with only Batman due to the old technicality.

Hmmm....as far as hero, I think I'd say Gambit (come on, he's awesome), villain I'm not sure....one of my favs has always been The Riddler from Batman (circa Batman: The Animated Series). All the riddles and mind games...

Another choice I was thinking of was Light Yagami/Kira from Death Note. In a weird way he's a villain but also the hero of the story. Even though he IS the main character of the book, I don't know if I should root for him or not, and I love that.

Besides the fact that the story of Death Note, for the most part, is brilliant. And the way it ends, fantastic.

Coolest...hmm. I'll go with the Flash. (no surprise there), but if anybody's been doin' any reading lately, Booster Gold's climbin' up my list.
As far as bad guys, the Joker is one scary son of a gun.

For a villian I'ld have to say Lex Luthor. For a Hero I like Dr Strange.
