Got hooked on a new NSF. No freaking suprise, it's another Konami tune (they are officially the masters of NES sound)

One of the best uses of the FDS channel. Nicol was good, but harsh at times. Arumana no Kiseki was also good, but felt out of place in a few spots (of course both of those soundtracks are awesome as well -- an again, they're more Konami). Most Nintendo games either did a really basic sawtooth with the FDS (metroid, kid Icarus) or had some weird instrument that felt really out of place (Zelda 2) in the few tracks that actually used the channel (most of the times the channel was just used for sound effects).

Bio Miracle not only puts the channel to a good use musically, but the instrument choises fit really well with the mood of the songs, without being over elaborate and sounding out of place. Plus the tunes are classic Konami boppy-goodness.

If you listen really closely to the FDS, it sounds like they're doing some really nifty tricks with the channel too -- like in Track 2, it sounds like they're gradually changing the instrument mid-note (which of course can't be done -- you have to shut off the channel to edit the waveform -- but the game seems to hide that behind an tremolo effect, so it just sounds damn good, and very subtle)

I recommend adding this one to your lists. Though unfortunately (like most FDS games), the soundtrack is very short. Just a few songs.

Great stuff. Speaking of Konami tracks, RushJet1 did a cool Konami tribute NSF called http://nsf.4x86.com/?p=musicKonamized</A>. "The Final Conflict" is another rocking one there.

I've been listening to http://www.zophar.net/nsf/magic.zipMagic of Scheherazade</A> recently. It has a unique kind of melancholy feel -- Tracks 2 and 6 are awesome. 6 is one of my favorite intro themes of all time. Track 20 is wonky in a cool way. 21 is good too.

Good choice of soundtrack... but shitty choice of platform.

In my opinion the NES version is a hundred times better. The FDS sound channel sounds awful in most NSFs I've heard. I just prefer the NES arrangement. But that's just me.
