need to partition a Zip100 disk

Is this possible? The disk does not show up in PartitionMagic 8.0, but perhaps I just don't know how to enable that. Also, would finding an old copy of FDISK work?

I also have another resort: In an old CD I had with a Knoppix Live distribution, there was an installer program which also would run a FDISK- like program (which was much better than FDISK). I believe that this would work with my zip disk.

Thank you for any advice.

I honestly don't think you can partition a zip disk or any removable media for that matter.

Sorry bud.

Sure you can, ever heard of floppies. Hell I found an article on google looking for what he wanted on how to partition a zip100 disk so you could run linux off of it and it included partitioning information also for that endevor. <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>

Aren't floppies typically not partitioned?

They certainly can, and I've run into trouble with that. It is not necessary to partition media (excepting OSes that require it), but if you can put any data on the device you can write a partition table.

I never said it was a good idea or if there was a point to it (I might note that i had to make a bootable partition in a thumbdrive due to lack of any other removable media, ack)
