Man, I love my cable provider!

The apartment complex has actual cabling that goes to the main building, but the main building gets its reception via satellite. So whenever even a mild rainstorm passes over, the cable goes out. Because that's just the sort of thing I'll need, should a major storm ever hit - to NOT be able to get emergency bulletins on The Weather Channel! Thank you so much, Ygnition! I'll fucking murder all of your useless, retarded employees! <img src=smilies/liefde.gif>

Do you live in the middle of nowhere or something? (I thought you lived right in Orlando) Why don't they just use in-ground cabling? Are your phone lines the same way?

I do live right in Orlando. It's just that the apartment complex managers are 'tards.

What do I look like, their biographers?

Nope.

Hopefully you use DSL for internet service then. As for your cable TV, do you watch enough stuff to justufy having it? I don't watch cable TV anymore. Anything I want I can either get with a pair of rabbit ears or off bittorrent.

We get our TV via satellite in this house (like about half of the town since no one will ever lay cable here) but we're in no danger since we live in an area that has never had any serious weather phenomenon hit it. Hurricanes? Britain never gets those. Floods? We must be something like 200 metres over sea level, and this house is situtated on the side of hill. Earthquakes? Biggest in living memory hit about III on the Mercalli Intensity Scale (I was there and I thought it was a big truck going by). Tornados? A few have taken off roof tiles before, but that was further south.

I always say living in a safe area is the best way not get killed by the weather.

Yup yup. I use DSL. As for cable, yeah, I do. I watch Court TV, Discovery, The Learning Channel, and sometimes The Food Network, which more than justify (to me, anyway) the cost of about $50 a month. I'm considering plunking down the extra $20 a month just to get the digital cable package so I can have Discovery Health again, because I fucking miss that channel.
