The single player was lacking, the multiplayer is THE reason to buy the game. I found the Xbox Live play to be so damn good, I actually bought the three month starter kit just so I could get the headset.
If you aren't gonna play online, there really isn't a reason to own this game, unless you know a lot of Halo freaks.

I thought the single player whipped ass. Personally, Halo 1's multiplayer was far more balanced. But you couldn't go on Xbox live...

Your connection just sucks then. I played a lot of 16 player CTF games on XBC without any issues, save for the usual jackass hosts who would leave the game when they lost.
