Good microphones?

I've been thinking of getting a microphone at some point and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

I might like a headset, though one you can clip onto your shirt would be good (these are called "lapel mics", yes?)

Also, cost is a factor. I don't want to spend more than $20, preferable no more than $15.

Funny, In video-Journalism, we call those "Lavaliere Mics"

Just as an afterthought... My experience with microphones... We have some Sony battery-powered Lavalieres that work flawlessly. I always choose these microphones over any of the others we use due to the amazing quality they output (or... input?), but being there are only three, someone else may beat me to them, so my next choice are Shure Handheld microphones.
