Gary The Retard

So... I saw Gary The Retard at my work like a week ago (at Fred Meyer). He sat around and told me where to clean this and that and chatted about this huge ass vacation he was going on. And I didn't even realize who he was until later when I talked to a friend who works with him at Burgerville. At the time I was thinking, "Gee, how the hell does this retarded guy who works like four hours a week at Burgerville afford to go on a massive multi-state vacation?" Well, apparently he's purdy freakin' rich thanks to his role on the Howard Stern Show. And after doing a bit of Google searching, it wasn't hard to see the retarded guy without front teeth was indeed the man I met. And he works just a parking lot away.

Anyone else have any random celebrity encounters like this?

I think this is about the first time I've ever really talked to a celeb who isn't a musician, aside from the girl from The Ring who was at one of my school dances last year... you know, the freaky one who comes out of your TV screen. But I didn't really say much of anything to her. And she was a bitch.

Most of mine weren't random. I worked as a bouncer in a rock and roll nightclub up north for a while.
Cept I bumped into Britney Spears about seven years ago. Took me a good minute and a half to recognize who I'd walked into.

I had lunch with Elvira on a golf course in L.A. once. Also, I shook Prince Charles' hand a long time ago, when I was living in England.

That's about it though.

I've never really met any celebrities, per se. I've met Bill Frist before, but he doesn't really count as a celebrity. The only other people of note were years ago I got autographs from the guys who played Eddie and The Beaver on Leave It To Beaver at a public signing, and I got to meet the members of the Canadian Brass since a brass quartet that I was in opened for them back when I still lived in Buffalo, NY.

i met and talked to man-faye (not really a celeb, but...). he wasnt dressed as faye valentine, but as a droog from clockwork orange. i met him at a wednesday night showing of the movie at a local theater here. he lives in my area. weird. i didnt realize it was him at the time. i realized it two days later as i was showing people pictures of man-faye.

i also met donnie osmond when i was 4. he parked next to us at church.

Yea, last week Spud Webb came in my shop and needed a part for a Dell Inspiron 700m and we chatted about his laptop then about the Mavericks. Overall he's a real nice guy and I treated him just like a normal guy so I'm sure he'd appreciate that. I did not do the "omg hax j00r Spud Webb!" routine like one of my shipping guys did after I told him he was here...then the mofo chased after him out the door. You should of seen the huge ass rims he had on his Range Rover.

i've seen a crap load of celebs, but that's because i live in new york. my fav. celeb sighting was when i saw Morgan Freeman in Soho. that made my lifetime.

the biggest celebrity douche bags are as follows:

David Letterman - humongous, ungracious dick
Bryant Gumbel - even bigger douche
Gwenyth Paltrow - uppity whore

*edit*
I also met Chris Rock three years ago. THAT was just as cool as seeing Morgan Freeman. It surprised me, but he's not very big physically. He's actually kind of a pipsqueak. Speaking of which, David Spade was with him, and he was a big loser
Edited by Lobster Cowboy on 09/01/05 12:08 AM.

Yeah, me too. I imagine it's the same in L.A.

Well, Decoder (guy in Kosheen) fell over me when he was drunk once.
And I saw Richard Stallman in the street once when he was here for some speech. I just froze in the middle of a step and my brain went "OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!111". Didn't dare talk to him though. :(

Yeah, he probably would have begged you for free beer, and if you denied him his free beer, would have launched into a speech on how beer wants to be free like ideas, or something to that effect.

It was a excellent performance, but I don't put a lot of stock in entertainment industry awards anyway, so I'm not surprised that he (like many other talented actors through the years) was overlooked by the Oscars.
