Final Fantasy IX model viewer/exporter?

Hello there,

I'm interested in ripping the ingame models (in particular, most monsters, I really don't give a shit about the human characters ) for my own personal (non-commercial!) purposes (in short, a random warcraft 3 project), but I really don't know how I would get around doing that. The only tools I see around are for .tim files or something, which seems to be only the images and textures.

I lack any sort of playstation "rom hacking" knowledge (as a matter of fact, my overall romhacking skillz just consist of random trivial hex editing with docs at hand), and I really don't have the patience to learn it just for something I consider trivial in the "greater scheme of things", unless there is a simpler way.

I am not requesting for a tool to be done if something like this doesn't already exists, by the way.

Thanks in advance.

Total shot in the dark here, but have you tried http://www.romhacking.net/?Category=&Console=0&Game=0&Author=0&Recm=&Level=&utilsearch=++Go++&title=&dsearch=tmd&page=utils&action=utillistPsxmultiripper</a>? It supposedly rips TIMs and TMDs (TMDs being a 3d modeling format).

Also, I recall reading somewhere that FFXIII and FFIX have annoying encryption or formats or something. Basically, they're a major pain to work with. I don't have any references to back that up, so I might be completely wrong.

I don't think there's any fuctional hack tools that work yet for FF9. I read Quimm forms and have yet to here any mod/ crack moddel view programes yet. Or atleased if there were I don't remember. All the interesting work is being done with FF7 & FF8 partial helped by the PC versions.
I think Ugly Joe maybe right about the encoding junk, but if there is anything Quimm would be the place to look first.

That's very unfortunate to hear :( Oh well.

Do you have any links to those quimm forums? I would like to keep track or something concerning progress.

Would you belive it's forums.qhimm.com, either way their most interesting projects are the NPCreconstrution one the graphicly overhauls FF7 none battle poly characters for the PC version and Q-gears an exe engine relacement that is to beable to play FF7(PS&PC),FF8(PS&PC),FF9, & Xenogears on your computer PC/Mac/Linux. Oh theres also programs for extracting and changing pretty much everything in FF7 PC.
So I know FF9s data will get looked at eventualy.
