I have a crap load of mp3s that have a very long name so when my CDr truncates it, they end up with the same name so therefore it doesnt bother burning the CD.

Is there some program to rename files easily? It has to be FREE.

I have 200 mp3s I have to rename <img src=smilies/erm.gif>

If they have ID3 tags, you can use TagScanner to have your way with them. Excellent freeware utility.

Are you kidding? I have over 3000 mp3s I had to rename because of a similar problem. The most useful program I found was Smart MP3 Renamer. It uses the CDDB to retrieve MP3 info and not ID3 tags like someone else mentioned. It also lets you use patterns so you can shorten the MP3 file names to only the track name if you need to.

Another good program I found was Bome's MP3 Renamer. It can pretty much do everything Smart MP3 Renamer can, except use the CDDB database. Bome's MP3 Renamer is postcardware and Smart MP3 Renamer has a 21-day trial, but is fully functional for that period.
