Emulators that will load GoodMerged ROMs?

By now probably most of us keep our ROM collections in 7-zip GoodMerged format. But are there any emulators (or front-ends) that will say... open a 7z file and automatically load the version you want, based on preferences you set?

Nope.

I'd venture a guess, probably not.

Yes, actually; I run most of my sets Goodmerged...

Quickplay allows this to be done very easily. You would pick "Scan For Roms", check "Scan Inside Zips", and point it to the folder with the Goodmerged set; you'll be able to load individual files from it.

I run everything but computer systems (Due to constant disk swapping) through it. Here's a screenshot of my Goodmerged NES set:

That's exactly what I needed. I especially like the way you can set any ROM in an archive as default so it won't automatically select the first (U) [!] dump it sees. Awesome program. Many thanks. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>

How do you make QuickPlay work? I chose all my emulators during the set up, as well as the ROM folders, but when I click on a ROM, it says it can't find the emulator. I'm perplexed.

I've been messing with a project on and off to greatly expand the EmuFinder utility in QuickPlay. It's done, for the most part:

http://sliverx.panicus.org/shite/neoqp.zipQP "3.8.5"</a>

Extract this somewhere. Once you have QP up and running, go to Emulators > Launch EmuFinder. Pick "Scan Directory" and point to the folder where all your emulators are installed. Then Next, "Use All Dats", then Begin.

The dat files I've made will autoconfig nearly every emulator you would want to even bother with, and even a lot you wouldn't. I've also updated things like proper extenstion associations for system (So Mednafen (PCE) can pick *.cue files from the utility, pSX can choose *.cdz/*.iso/*.bin/etc). System types are also a lot more organized.

I had the same problem until I realized you need to click "Re-scan selected directory" every time you change or update an emulator. Even after selecting them for the first time you have to re-scan the directory. Works just fine after that.
