Can't hack Metroid? That's no problem when you have a utility such as Editroid. It is a full featured editor for Metroid on the NES that has the following features:
  • Map editing: move screens around and reshape levels
  • Screen editing: modify/add/remove objects, enemies, and doors within screens
  • Structure editing: modify the objects that screens are composed of
  • Item editing: move items around (automatically corrects password data)
  • Password data editor: allows moved items and doors to work properly with the password system
  • Level editing features: elevators can be moved, level starting positions can be moved, and palettes can be changed
  • Title screen text can be changed
  • IPS patch support: create and apply IPS patches
  • Mapping: create a map for a portion of the game, a level, or the whole game in various scales and various image formats
  • Backup feature: easy creation of time-stamped backups in case the ROM becomes corrupted or buggy
Version 1.2 adds a handy grid, making it easier to align screens and easily see how they fit together. You can get it at the project's website or on our newly minted Editroid page. Thanks to Snarfblam for the heads up.
