Drunk Teamates

I told them not to drink during the game.

Softball. Workers at one of the campus dining halls vs. another dining hall's staff. I was the only one on the team that was fully sober; everyone else was at least buzzed. Our secondbaseman had trouble throwing the ball in the right direction and leaving his beer on the ground when they were up to bat. One of the outfielders ran forward then ran back to try to catch a flyball that he probably never would've gotten to in time. There were 14 of us, and five cases of beer. 13 of the 14 (including the 17-year old gal) drank, and there were only a few cans left by the end of the game. The final score was somethin' usually written in scientific notation to eight. I don't think I'm gonna join them on thier next challenge.

I prefer my tea with a bit of vodka. What's the problem? Sheesh.

The problem is watching the ball fly 10 feet or more to the left or right of first base, and the guy's throwing from second. Idiot mistakes that shouldn't be made. That's the problem. I don't mind losing too much, and I can stand a pounding. But what I can't stand is taking a pounding 'cuz a good number of my teamates are having difficulty telling which way is up.

Meh, winning is highly overated anyway.

Sounds to me like you were taking the game much more seriously than your teammates were. Maybe you should have tossed a few back with them and enjoyed acting silly.

Man, I feel for you.
I played softball for 14 years.
Yup. For A BAR.
Wanna guess how many guys were wasted?
Here's the answer: 2 at most, every game. I, FTP, and DW coached that team. We went to the state tournament 10 out of those fourteen years. You know why?
We loved the game. Sound like you hooked up with some lameasses.
My cousin played pro ball for 21 years. I had wanted to do the same.

have you ever tried to drink beer with those heavy thick boxing gloves on? When your super drunk it almost becomes as much fun as the boxing itself

I was out to have fun as well. But it gets difficult to have fun while I get bench duty and watch the second baseman fail to throw the ball to first, 'cuz he's off by five feet. Instead, we have a runner on second when he should've been thrown out at first. These mistakes should NOT be made; they kill the fun for those who see there's only one ball.
