man i thought u could only get it by being born with it, but he was just now diagnosed with it

guess I should read this medical book we have to learn more aobut it and all, but they say if he stays on his diet strictly he will be ok,

at first he was dehydrated and drank lots of juice and when he went in hit blood-sugar level was 600! they told him if he would of had a stroke or went into acoma he would have died

hope I dont get it, I dont think I will though, I gave up sodapop back in early highschool, shit kills my stomach

yeah...that is no good...my grandfather had diabetes, he had both his legs removed from the knee down as a result...the main reason for this, is, he was not able to/didn't know how to eat right...he died about a couple years ago...he had a heart attack, i am not sure if it is related or not...just make sure your father eats right...i hope all of this goes well for your family, concidering the curcumstances that this is under...

I know two people who have it. Well, one has it and the other used to have it. My mom had it when she was younger. I guess she got it from drink to much pop, but she ate right and finally got rid of it. Then in 9th grade I had a friend in my Home Ec. class that had it. She came to class one day, didn't take her medicine that morning and eat a whole bunch of suger filled candy during class. The next thing I know she was staring off in space, ignoring everyone and talking some weird crap. Some how she snapped out of it and I made her promise never to do that again. As long as your dad follows the doctors orders he should be fine just like my mom.

Is his diabetes Type 1 (Insulin Dependent) or Type 2? My dad has Type 2 and he's always complaining that he can't eat his sweets anymore, but he still eats a ton of rice! <img src=smilies/cwm27.gif>

If he eats according to the proper diet, he'll be fine.

If you eat right you'll be fine.

I should probably give it up too. Caffeine makes me go insane (more insane than usual) and can easily make me stay awake for over 24 hours. This is just regular Coke we're talking about too, I have no idea what effect real coffee would have on me.

However, that thing about the games taken out of MAME, I didn't have any caffeine in my system then. That was all me. I'm kinda proud of it really. I'm also still mad at the MAMEdevs for doing it. I probably still will be when version 1.0 is released, I'm in my 20s, the Neo Geo is dead and all Neo Geo games have been emulated with 100% accuracy...

Tough shit. I'm tempted to take out all Playstation-based games until at least next year simply because that one Aerosmith game came out in 2001 and because there are DDR games that came out in 2002 and even more recent than that. Then, when people complain, I can tell them that they have you and only you to thank.

Well, that's your problem, isn't it?

You lot are going insane. I know insanity because I live with it in my head every fucking day. I can tell you're going insane because you're putting work into drivers just so you can stop them from going into MAME.

Besides, one of the counter-arguments against me on the MAME forums was that MAMEdevs didn't care about what I said and probably weren't listening. Is this argument just going to fall without me having to do anything?

Diabetes is becoming more and more common.
If he watches his diet, he'll be fine...my mom contracted it in her 50's and she's turning 71 this year.
Don't let it panic you.

No, none of the devs care about what you said, and they aren't listening. Seeing as I'm not on the mailing list and don't have access to the dev source tree, I'm not an official MAMEdev, so I'm allowed to be annoyed.

I'm not really sure. I don't talk to that person anymore.

same thing happened to my dad at like 45 or something. i think its fairly common. they just have to stick to balancing out their foods they way they should be, and they'll be okay. i'm pretty sure anyone can be at risk for diabetes.
