Copying files off a damaged DVD-R

I recently bought a bunch of DVD-Rs but they turned out to be utter trash. The first DVD seemed to burn fine, then the second did as well, but the others would not finish burning or they simply would not load on my computer. I did a check on the two DVDs I had, and they have random file errors.

I tried using Windows Explorer to copy the files, but it just hanged. I also tried XCopy, and it copied about 250 megs off the DVD before hanging. I told XCopy to ignore file errors, but I don't know how to make it skip damaged files.

Does anyone know of any tools (freeware. of course) that can help me get these files? Even if they're damaged I can recover some of the contents since it's just a bunch of zip files.

Thanks.

It gave me a bunch of zero-byte files, so no. It sucks ass when it comes to this disc.

Reminds me of when i lost my wedding pictures off a SecureDigital Card that went corrupt. The PC could not even read it. Fortunately, I downloaded a trial version of a software package called Photo Rescue and it got my photos back (along with ones that i had deleted).

Ofcourse, It wont work in your situation but I am sure if you do a google search, you will find someone has already developed a program for your need. You may have to pay for it though!
