Broken video card? And this Linux, it's great!

I am just now switching to a Linuz OS and it is great. I am using the live CD of the standard Mandrake OS. It's looks like all the goods of Windows and Apple put together, plus it has little built in customizing capabilities and is easy to use and install. I may be installing it later, or tonight. But before I do anything, there's a big problem, and it probably has nothing to do with the new OS. I think my graphics card went wack. It has previously been glitchy now and then for the past five or six months when I had Windows installed. Now, it shows everywhere. I hope not, but is this a sign that my graphics card is broken?

With the PC off of course unplug and replug your card into the pci/agp slot and then do the same with the monitor plug going into the card. This just makes sure the plugs are tight and it may rub of any foreign material or corrosion/oxidation. Now make sure the heatsink if your card has one is on tight and dust free. Make sure your video cable going from monitor to card is not intertwined through a bunch of other cables or power cords. Are you using a breaker bar that can stop any bad electrical feedback/noise? Make sure there are not any speaker right next to your monitor or the monitor cable is clear of them and the magnetic fields they produce. Make sure any video game console or other electrical devices are clear of the monitor or the cables. Make sure another device other than computer is not plugged into the breaker bar and is causing interference.

No, didn't work. Is it to be assumed that my card is broken?

Yes, it's true. Damn cheap card. It is broken. Oh well, I bought it when I didn't have a job, and now I can just save up for another one. Right now I'm using the video on my mobo, so I'm OK for now.

However, I am prolly gonna ask help about my new operating system. Has anyone used the Mandrake OS? What kinds of things should I know? Any hardware I should look for? Any software? I want to do audio mastering stuff (Agnula was a bitch to get up/I couldn't install it), are there any applications for this? I'm prolly gonna ask my own questions tomorrow. Let me know any moderators if I should put this into a new post.
Thank you all, laters!
