I have noticed that Breath of Fire 2 no matter what version i am using eventually freezes up during the battle scenes on the ZSNES emulator but runs fine on the SNES9X.Can any adjustment be made to the emulator so it doesn't freeze up on the ZSNES?

There are several other roms with the same problem with Zsnes! Have you tried a lower version of Zsnes, like version 1.36 or 1.40 (it worked for me with the actraiser-rom !)

Thanks for the information on other versions of the ZSNES.I was just playing it on the ZSNES to create a special save with lots of items and magics for a friend who was playing it.I can also play it on the SNES9X emulator or on my super nintendo because fortunately i have a cart of the game- thanks

Oh, thought of a nice tip I don't think a lot of people realize...I don't think it'll fix the BoF 2 bug or anything, but if you're having problems with a game that worked perfect in a previous version, one thing you could try is to delete your Zsnes zsnes.cfg and zsnesguicfg.dat files...sometimes the new versions will have slight problems with configs from previous versions, causing glitches and problems that shouldn't be really happening.

If you edit the zsnesw.cfg file in your zsnes directory, there is a setting Execute = 100. If you change this to 70, it should work.

This setting was supposedly fixed in the 1.42 04/04 WIP. It didn't work for me in the 1.36 WIP versions. So maybe the new version will work. If not, I was able to play through the whole game using version 1.337.

I went to the Config screen on the ZSNES emulator and i didn't see anything about a setting Execute= 100 . all i saw was Input #1-#5, Add-Ons, Chip CFG, Options, Video , Sound, Paths, Saves- i selected each of these and couldn't find any Execute=100 to change

Oh, no...it's in the actual zsnes*.cfg file in the same directory as Zsnes.

If you mean you were hacking a ZST file, you can do this on Snes9x too. You just need the program gzip.exe. All Snes9x savesstates get gzipped. Just add .gz to the end of the savetsate, unzip with winrar to whatever, hack away, type "gzip FILENAME" and delete the .gz from the end of the name. It will load again and work fine in Snes9x.

This sounds similar to how an unhacked original dump of Der Langrisser randomly locks up and shits out in ZSNES. It always has too.

In Der Langrisser's case it's an issue with the ZSNES sound core. Disabling Stereo sound and setting your sample rate to 22050 will let DL play without ever crashing. Maybe this will work for Breath of Fire II as well?
