Commodore - 64 Emulators

<< Go to Macintosh systems list

Name Description
Frodo Frodo/MacOS is a port of Frodo, a C64 emulator for Windows. It is much like Power64, and it supports a full-screen mode. This is now much more of a rewrite than before.
Mac64 Mac64 is one of the earliest C64 emulators for Mac. It is extremely outdated, however, and the graphics are mediocre. Power64 or Frodo would be better choices.
Power64 Power64 is one of the best Commodore64 emulators for Mac. It is extremely fast (full speed on any PowerPC-based Macintosh), and has extremely good compatibility. You can even run multiple Commodore processes! reSID is a new addition and not Carbonized, thus it only works under earlier versions of the Mac OS. reSID is a high precision emulator for the C64's sound chip, but it requires a fast (>200MHz) Macintosh to run properly. It is also Shareware.
SIDekick A fully carbonized SID player. It has a few features that make it worth getting.
VICE This is an emulator for old Commodore computers. Its supports C128, VIC20, all the PET series, and, of course, Commodore 64. Go to the site to download binaries of the Mac version. We can't host them here currently because of limits in our upload system.
