Default gasoline

Gas is now over $2/gallon here. WTF is the problem here? Why can we send "hello world" across the globe in 20ms, put a man on the moon, eradicate diseases, etc...but we can't make synthetic gas? Why can't we just throw some chemicals together and make it?

I need a chemist on ZMD. Stat.

Gas has been over $2/gal here for months. The other day, it was $2.31, which is the highest I've seen it here.

Yeah, it's $2.01 last I checked for regular unleaded here in bumfuck, Oklahoma.

Good thing I live across the parking lot from work. I should probably gas up my car though, I think the last time I did was in December or something. -_-

SHUT UP. Christ. I actually am starting to HATE you now. You may very well give me the motivation to figure out how to do an ignore user feature for a threaded system.

Hm. It's still only $1.88 where I live, but I'm sure that'll change.

Haha, our rate translates to well over $7/gallon, though that's mostly tax. Consider yourself lucky.

EDIT: ...and Scotland exports more oil than it imports, too.

As much as I hate those douche bags, they really have nothing to do with this...hell, since they went to Iraq for "oil" anyways, you'd figure it'd be cheaper by now. The REASON its so fucking expensive is simple macroeconomics....supply, demand, and distribution. The SUPPLY of oil, has not drastically changed, OPEC, as shady and shitty as they are, are keeping up the end of their deal and keeping production somewhat steady. The instability in Iraq does have something to do with it, but since we never "technically" couldn't get oil from them anyway before *cough* too bad Haliburton did anyway, but I digress *cough* that shouldn't have any bearing on our supply.

Now, due to the increased demand of developing countries, namely China at this point, the demand for said consistent oil reserved has increased drastically. Same amount of food on the table, but more plates. ALSO, part of this is our fault. Our demand and consumption is also increasing, as other countries are, and therefore, we need more oil, but we need to be able to PROCESS that oil. The fact of the matter is, is that we aren't getting less oil, its that we're consuming the GAS faster than we can refine it...thus driving up prices. Wait until gas hits $3/gallon and we have a gas shortage again. Even if you could affort the $80 fillup, there just won't be any gas to put in your 4mpg 50gal HUMMER. So, increased demand on our part, and on others around the world, coupled with our inability to keep refinement up with consumption, and "turmoil" all lead to insane prices. However, one the upside, adjusting for inflation, gas is still cheaper than it was in 1981 when it reached $2.96/gal on average in 2005 dollars.

So, in closing, Bush and Cheany are still fuckheads, but they really dont have anything to do with this....sorry.

Yeah, using monetary conversion and pint -> gallon conversion, the UK has it rough as far as gas is concerned....but then again, you ppl actually have some sense of decency and dont drive 12mpg five ton trucks to go to the supermarket (sorry, I don't know what that is in Kilometer/Litre). Maybe if gas was $7/gallon here, the car manufacturers would make the fucking cars that they CAN make that get 150mpg.
