Keyboard?

So I decide to finally actually turn off my computer.
I turn the computer on and the BIOS warns me no keyboard detected. I've tried these:
1.)reconnecting the keyboard
2.)remounting Motherboard
3.)reinstalling keyboard software

It's not windows, the 4 lights briefly turn on and off on the keyboard, and the motherboard beeps 2 too many times.
mouse works so the PS2 blockd isnt the problem though after sitting at the password screen for 5 minutes, the mouse atops working. Tried googling it,
Help?

Suggestions?

anyone?

Is it USB or PS/2?

If USB, get a PS/2 one and see if it is detected. If PS/2, make sure you do not have the mouse and the keyboard plugged into the wrong PS/2 slots.

Depending on the motherboard, make sure there's no foreign metal peices in the USB port. Sometimes that'll make the keyboard goof up if USB Keyboard Is allowed in the BIOS.

Theyre all PS2 and they are plugged in to the right color coded spots because it's where they have been plugged in for the last 3 months

Ive come to the line where it's the motherboard. luckily, the account that happen to be typed in had no password, so I used it, Ran On Screen keyboard, and the mouse worked but 10 minutes into a session it freezes. I think that something on the motherboard is fried but i havent seen anything I guess this is what I get for buying a low budget celeron.<img src=smilies/banghead.gif>

I'm doubting the motherboard is at fault.

Reset the BIOS/CMOS to it's defaults.

Upgrade the BIOS to the latest Revision.

Disconnect all input devices (scanners, mice, keyboards) and boot the computer. It'll still bitch about it missing, then install a USB mouse once booted to shut the system down. Or just hit the button... I reccomend the mouse though.

Blow all the dust out of the empty ports on the rear of the board, and on the board itself (DO NOT USE A VACUUM. Use compressed air.)

If all else fails, pull the board out, set it on a NONCONDUCTIVE surface, install the most basic components (Video card, ram, CPU, keyboard, mouse, hard drive) and boot to see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't recognize the keyboard STILL, I'll suspect the board then.

Depending on how the keyboard connector fell out in the first place, he could of fucked up keyboard connector. If it came out roughly somehow, he could of damaged the port. He could of bent some pins or pulled the connector off the mainboard.

Who said about a keyboard falling out of the port? Did I miss a post somewhere?? <img src=smilies/erm.gif>
