Lol here's how I found it :

I was browsing through Alexa. And total random : I fall on Zophar.net listed as Rank 12,000. I'm like omg this website has not been updated for years and it's still hitting Rank 12,000 in the world, that's just incredible. And then I look at the traffic evolution :

I'm like what the hell could happen to Zophar.net in the last months that could have resulted into this : and then I look at the most popular URLs still in Alexa :

# roms.zophar.net - 66.7%
# zophar.net - 27.7%
# mmxz.zophar.net - 5%
# Other websites - 2.5%

Lol.

For those who ask : Isn't it weird. My answer is yes, when I accessed the website I felt the weirdest sensation an emulation site ever gave me. I was trying to convince myself, I was telling myself : Ok Jj, you've become old, you know what, Playstation in 2008 is like Atari in 1999, it's over, people don't care anymore, these are small roms now. But there is nothing to do; maybe the psychological frontier of CD isos, I dunno. When I look at this site, my first reaction is : for how long can this thing hold. OK we all know the PS1 collection is very very easily available with torrents now, but still there's a fundamental difference between http and torrents : in http the hoster possesses the file, in torrents, the tracker does not.

By the way just a small update, a couple of months ago I came here and talked about a potential wiki about emulation that could replace the role that zophar.net occupied for many years, being more current and up-to-date, well the project is going very well : http://www.emuwiki.com. I had good response from people here in the forum and even got an approval from Chuck Norris which is considered considerable in the emulation world.

Your not the only one that feels that way, it almost feels taboo to download PSX isos, even though the system is semi-dead. I say semi-dead, because it's emulated officially through the ps3 store (and also on the PSP.) Albeit, in a sense, i also feel like i'm back in the olden days, when I downloaded my first few roms, and an old version of Snes9x. The concept is mind blowing, seeing an "Ye Olde R0m Website" pop up. slow speeds seem to emulate the 56k of yore, while the design looks like the classic ZD.

The fact that there is now a PS1 goodset of sorts (of all NTSC-U games anyway) that stands testament to the fact that we are getting a bit older than we'd like to think. But, i guess that it's pretty standard these days. Can it still be considered "as illegal" as it was (ethically)?

Er, it's either "is it illegal" or "is it unethical", let's not get confused.
