I still have no Gui on my opensolaris test box, I don't think Ill ever get around to finishing that.

Wow ! I wanted to quote HCS, not you. I've seen a Sansa shortcut on his desktop. I had no idea that you had a Sansa ! Talk about a coincidence !

Heh, yeah, I like it. I run Rockbox on it so I get all sorts of fun stuff like SPC and NSF playback.

I know that the original and the rockbox firewares can co-habit, but is it working well ? No nasty bugs ?

Hmm, I see, this makes a bit more sense. Many people I know have one though, most of what I've seen is the e100 series, I myself have one.

Actually for the Sansas (at least the e2xx series) it never replaces the original firmware, it just runs instead of it. When you plug in the USB it reboots into the original fw since it doesn't have USB support, and I'm sure there's some keypress you can hold while turning it on that makes it boot the original normally if you need it for some reason.

It isn't perfect, but I use it every day and don't encounter any bugs that I can think of. There's actually going to be a major release soon, 3.0, which is supposed to be free of any known major bugs and the choice target for support. If you want to start with one that might be a good choice.

The only caveat I can think of, and I don't even know if this is still true, is the battery life was once a bit less than the original firmware's. But I can go a whole workday listening to it and still have 30% when I get home.
