Default What to do with old and broken consoles?

I have a few dead game systems taking up space in my closet...

NES - Died of old age.
Super NES - Power surge fried it.
Super Wildcard DX (32Mb) - Died with my Super NES.
Playstation 1 - The cd motor died.
Sega CD - Refuses to load discs.

Any ideas or suggestions as to what to do with all of this?

I'd hate to just throw it all in the trash...

Gut the NES and make a PC out of it.

As for the Super Wildcard, open it up and fix it. It's probably just blown a fuse or a cap. It's worth more than the rest of the stuff on your list combined.

Yeah, I paid over 300 smackers for it.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to repairing electronics, but I suppose I'll look into it anyway.

Well, look at it this way: you can't possibly break it worse than it already is, so even if you just open it up and dick around with it, you've gained more than you would by tossing it in the trash.

I'm probably lucky I didn't have to get it amputated, since I refused medical attention in spite of such an obviously rabid infection...

It's lots better now, though. I'll post an updated pic in a bit.

rather than throwing any of those systems out, i am sure you can find new homes for them. i used to collect old broken Nintendo's and Xbox's to fix them.

If the case isn't yellow see if you can get on ebay and find a nasty or broken(but works) one no one will buy and get it cheap and just replace the case with yours.

http://www.electronix.com/catalog/de...php/cPath/1_23This place seems to have for spare. Probly the same as the playstation, you could also be able to take apart the sega CD and find out what part is broken and see if you can google it and buy a new one.

See if you can trace the path. Might be as simple as a bad power rail or a blown trace.
