Default FF7 for PC

Anyone played this? I'm about to install it...and I remember reading that the music is rubbish. Should I just emulate my FF7 PSX or should I bother playing the PC version since I did buy it?

I have it. It's not bad, but get the PSF Patch. I don't know where you can find it, but Google will probably help you out. The only problem is that some of the pre-rendered backgrounds look like crap since they were designed to be used at 320x240 or something shitty like that.

I have both the PSX and the PC version, and I didn't notice a big difference either way for the music. The graphics on the PC version are a bit cleaner, but that's really the only difference between the 2 version. The nice thing about running it in an emulator, as for any other game, state saves ceom come in handy in spots. the PC version of FF7 was the very first brand-new PC game I ever bought. I remember it came in the triangle shaped box.

I can't find a site to download that PSF patch...without registering that is. I don't want more spam emails. Anyone got that patch handy?

I cant help you with a site, but I can send you a Gmail invite so you can make a spam-email/forum registration account. I have one called crapmailsucks, lol.

Just sign up a new gmail account named "forumregistrations@gmail" or something similar. Anytime I have to sign up for something, I use that spam email addy. Plus, even then , Gmail has a kickass spam detection system.

I played/beat FF7 on the PC version on my only time through it. After playing it, then seeing the PSX version several times, I could not really tell any differences. I actually kind of prefer the PC version... but that may just be because I like the controller better.

JCE, did you get this yet? I'm in line to download the file from Fileplanet, it's only 1.3mb from what I can tell. Turns out I had a free account from a long time ago.

If you don't have it, let me know, I'll send it to you.

Yes and no. It has problems for XP users, so you'll probably need the XP fix patch, wherever that is. Second, the music uses MIDI's, and comes with an older version of Yamaha. The game also has a crash bug with Sound Blasters (or one of the sound cards). I think there was a fix floating around as well. It's also a censored translation, so you won't get to see Cid or Barret go to town. <img src=smilies/upeyes.gif>

I've played both. If you have the PS version I'd stick with it, otherwise go ahead with the PC version.

IIRC, I had a problem of the cutscenes' video being displayed upside down, but a patch fixed that.
