Default Newbie needs help with oldies on PS2

Hi there!

I just got myself a PS2 (I know, I am so cutting edge!) and since I discovered it has a chip I was hoping I could pick your brains for some advice.

1) Emulator, do I need a specific emulator for my chip? Or just a specific emulator for PS2?

2) Can I put the emulator and the roms for the games I have on the same disk, and then just stick it in and play? If so, do I need to burn it in any special way?

3) I have tried to read a little on the net, but there is a LOT of information, and a LOT of it seems out of date, can you tell me what are the best and most beloved emulators for running the following emulations on a PS2?
--a-- NES
--b-- SNES
--c-- Megadrive / Genesis
--d-- Mame
--e-- C64

Any other advice or tips or fun things to do with my PS2 when I finally manage to pick it up from the guy I am buying it from? Anything I really need to know as an oldschool gamer wanting to emulate on a PS2?
