Default I'd like suggestions for monitors.

So far I've found some good bargains on http://shop.resellerratings.com/SF-6...nge_0_190/or-1reselleratings.com</a>. I was wondering if anyone would trust any of the sellers on that page. I'd also like some suggestions for any other places with good bargains on monitors, preferrably a 19' CRT or a nice LCD flat panel.

Go with CRT and get it cheap or free at a thrift store or from a friend or something. Just make sure to turn it on and it works good enough.

You won't be getting much of a bargain on a nice, decent sized LCD, I'm afraid. A good 19" Widescreen LCD runs about 250 or so, maybe cheaper with off brands.

But yeah, if you're not looking to spend much or at all, do what pipes said and go with the CRT, and check local thrift stores, your local craigslist page, and things like that. You can get a really good CRT that way. Hell, if you lived near, I'd gladly give you the 19" dell i just replaced. I see monitors come and go in ads and thrift stores all the time.

http://www.ecost.comeCost</A> has good deals on LCDs if you don't mind sending in a rebate. Tack $10 on for their processing fee as well.

as puzzl already said, craigslist is probably a nice and easy route to get yourself an inexpensive crt. plus, you don't have to worry about the cost of shipping for something that is pretty heavy.

On the flipside, I've been using this Sylvania 19" CRT for almost a decade. Still works perfectly.

Err...no slogan. It is the truth. Viewsonic leaves much to be desired in the quality department. I myself and the company I work for have had no luck with viewsonic monitors. The Viewsonic LCDs have a high failure rate. My viewsonic CRT completely lost focus within a year and a half of purchase.

CRT's maybe, but the LCD's are top of the line. I still have an old 15" (which was one of the first LCD models ever made back in 1999) that is now part of my dual screen setup, and it works like new. We own a total of 4 Viewsonic LCD's, and not a single one has had problems or missing pixels. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif> http://static.filefront.com/images/p...eruyxhqjwq.jpgPicture</a>
