Default N64 Emulators on WinXP

I was running Project64 under WinXP and the program crashed, is Project64 compatible with WinXP?

If not, are there any emulators for N64 that are?

It should be compatible (I've used it a bunch of times). The only times I can think of that PJ64 crashed bad were due to the Graphics Plug-in doing something odd...are you sure that the one you're using is compabitle with your system (do you have DirectX (is the version high enough?), OpenGL, Glide, etc).

I've started to run the program multiple times, and it doesn't have a problem with WinXp, must have been a glitch or something.

I have been using Jabo's D3D 6 plug-in that came with Project64 and it runs Mario64 fine. But on Paper Mario, the program bottlenecked and crashed. I'm guessing due to the worthless integrated video my computer has, probably not the processor as it is a Celeron 2.6ghz.

It could be that this particular plug-in has a problem with that game. I'd try another plug-in for that game before assuming that it just won't work. Like for example, a lot of Graphics plug-ins seem to have big problems with Super Smash Brothers.

Re-running Paper Mario it seems that it doesn't crash, just bottlenecks down to 5 fps sometimes and then returns back to 60 fps.

I'm wondering if there may be a better plug-in similar to Jabo's D3D 6 plug-in. Are there any other graphics plug-ins that may be better for an integrated video machine?

Well, I'd just try them all and see what's best for your system. Another I like is Rice's Video Plug-in, butI don't know if it'd work that well unless your graphics card is recent.
