No, pSX fails, because it's all software. If I wanted to play games with blocky textures and aliased polygons, I'd play them on my actual Playstation. I have a good computer and I shouldn't have to settle for my games looking like they were made ten years ago (even if they were) unless I want them to.

Well, blame the developer for aiming towards accuracy. 'sides, some people (like me!) don't have a ps/ps2, and some really have not desire to get one just to play a few games on their random spare time, let alone the lack of save states and "infinite" memcards on real hardware.

I know this, I must have missed where you said you were using pSX.

Default First release and Greatest Hits versions

Outside the rarity of the edition, is there any differences between the two ?

as far as I know, no there isn't. You might want to ask in the Gamefaqs forums, they would know better than me.

Default UPDATE

So I got the game, the Greatest Hits version, on eBay for 50 $ USA (shipping not included). I was amazed at the quality of the disc, it looks brand new. Not a single scratch, nada. Anyway, I was playing through the game and told myself (man, that game is way too easy), until I found the inverted castle. Great game, love it as much as Aria Of Sorrow.

Great game, don't know if I love it as much as Aria Of Sorrow though.

Not a change of opinion, a typo. It was too late to edit my post when I've read my mistake, so I've created a new post with what I meant to say.

My stance on this is that, no doubt, SotN is an awesome game, and I love Aria of Sorrow, but it didn't quite approach that same level of greatness (though it tries hard and gets close). To me, Dawn of Sorrow is the one that truly beats SoTN. Don't get me wrong, Portrait of Ruin is amazing in it's own way, but the way I see it Aria, and thus Dawn of Sorrow are SotN's 'real' successors.
