It wasn't until SP2 did I actually start using xp. Vista is a failure, I'm sure more people would use Windows ME. I also expierence the same wifi problems and it also liked to randomly disable services on me every now and then. On this new laptop I installed a game controller and it disabled the RPC service making it turn off all services. It was madness! (with a touch of windows 95)

Aaaannnd this would be why I warned a friend NOT to get Vista when he finally got a computer for himself. Naturally, he didn't listen... I strangely haven't heard any complaints from him yet (he's relatively tech-savvy, so he SHOULD be running into problems), but then again I haven't talked to him much since then. I do know it took him a fairly long time to set it up after he got the machine, but since he hasn't had a computer of his own in a long time, he might not recognize that it took longer.

Just like I avoided getting XP until about two years ago, I am going to avoid getting Vista as long as I can manage (which might actually lead to me switching to Linux before I do it-- wouldn't that be ironic?). Maybe by THEN it'll have stabilized the way XP did with SP2.

I don't know why people are downing XP. Vista I can understand, but XP has never failed me. I'm running XP for 2 years now with the same install, everything work fine.

Agreed. Started using XP when SP1 came out.

After using two NT based Windows (2000 and XP), I would never use a 9x Windows again.

meh. I might have meant that. But wasn't ME like, more used and not as horrible sounding when it first came out as vista is now? I'm not sure, as I didn't pay much attention to computers then. I was content with my no-internet-486-Packard-Bell.

Actually, I had compuserve 2000, but rarely used it because it tied up the phone line. (Don't you just MISS those days?)
