I never denied that there are, in fact, retarded furries.

Ow. It hurts, not being recognized.

Anyway, I've heard of furs that are over sixty. I know a few (friends of Livejournal friends) that are WWII vets. That just shows that age doesn't matter. And I'm not trying to start a fight or anything. Just so you know that your age group may be a bit off.
Edited by Kitsune Sniper on 11/23/05 09:03 PM.

Oh, no, I hope you're not taking me wrong... I don't mean to say it's bad one way or the other (although I do admit I find the idea of people having sex in fuzzy cat/tiger/whatever costumes a bit creepy, but yeh know, whatever floats your boat as they say), just wondering where the supposed furry barrier is, heh.

It's just sort of a weird distinction.

*edit*
Oh yah, and before someone jumps at me for it, the dressing up having sex thing, not saying all furry people do that. :P Just like not all otaku are living in their parent's basement at 30 (how's that for another gross generalization?)
Edited by The 9th Sage on 11/23/05 10:29 PM.

This barrier is what is weird. There is no barrier - other than the one you choose. Either you choose to see yourself as a furry, or you don't. Simple as that.

I got what you meant, so don't worry, I ain't gonna throw myself at you. To hurt you, I mean! XD I'm just saying that not all people who like stuff that could be considered furry -are- furries. You dig?

A. I never specified furries are twisted. I only said that calling it a belief as a defense is not at all a defense. Anything is a belief--be it positive or negative. There are some beliefs that generally can't be defended. For example, maybe I like to get off by shoving knitting needles down the piss-tube of my dick. Somehow, it just makes it better. Most people will agree I am batshit insane, but I bet I could find people on the internet to agree with me, validate my belief, and make me feel like it's normal. Hey, I believe it's fun, and I can find other people who like doing it, so it must be a belief and hobby like any other, right? Wrong, it's weird as fuck, and no matter how many like-minded netizens you stumble on, it's still socially unacceptable to do, and even less socially acceptable to talk about.

Just because a few people out of 6 billion on this rock called Earth who agree with you doesn't make it OK.

My general theory has been, whatever you want to do, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, do it; however, keep it to yourself. If you know other people will find it fucked up, don't talk about it. They do not need to know.

To paraphrase one of your own champions, 2-Griffin, what if you applied for a job and said, "By the way, my mother has hemorrhoids and I hope no one here will have a problem with that." Then you get in your car with a "My mother has hemorrhoids and I vote" bumper sticker and drive to a "My mother has hemorrhoids" convention and make sure all your forum signatures and avatars make it clear your mother has hemorrhoids. Eventually, people are going to find you fucking weird and annoying.

B. I've never had a SomethingAwful forum account, but I do read their site from time to time.

Yeah, makes sense...probably why it sounded confusing to me in the first place since it's such a fine distinction from the way it sounds. :P

How in blue fuck did you come to the conclusion bullying is a result of 9/11?

Bullying isn't the result of 9/11. However, after 9/11, when the country needed a unified front, Dubya took 'a stand', and incoporated 'traditional Christain values' into the government. Since he took office, and since 9/11, a direct result, in MY opinion, is that more and more people are cracking down with the idea that "Many people died in a senseless war. Many people are dying overseas. Many people died in the hurricanes. So what makes YOU go damn happy? What gives YOU the right, when there's so much suffering?"

So no, it's not bullying. It's the fucking era of the mass "guilt trip".
