Default DESIRED WAGE

What the hell do you put on an application that says "desired wage"? For a waiter job. Shit, I have no idea. You shoot too low, they pay you too low, you shoot too high-- you don't get hired. WTF!

I've always put "Negotiable". Of course, I ended up with minimum wage as well (but this was Walmart, so...). Also, with waiters, don't they pay you less than normal anyway since they assume you'll get tips?

Minimum wage doesn't apply to jobs which get tips...$2-$3/hr is typical.

I'm just applying around. I have a summer job open to me at the factory, but I'd like to work around people (not so isolated and stuck with repetitive work) and preferably not 45 minutes away. Though, if I have to work there, I will.

im a sever and i make 2.83/hr, the hourly wage is only for tax purposes... you probably wont see the pay check.. but i ususally bring home $100-$150 a night so the paychecks dont mean anything. if youre a good talker you should make great money.

However, this does depend on the state - MN still requires min wage + tips, but I know it isn't like that everywhere.

Wow, that's really awesome! In Texas, the 'minimum wage' for waiters is about $2.13 or so, plus tips. So in MN you guys get $5.15 + tips?
