Default Need help with emulator...

I'm new here and am not sure if this is the place to ask this but...

I've just learned today about emulators and being able to play classic system games on the PC. Well when I went through search, I found this site. I downloaded both a emulator and one of the "Hacked Zelda" games because I was interested in trying it out. But for some reason I can't get it to work. I might have to delete them and download them again. I was wondering if someone here could give me step-by-step instructions to getting this to work. Thanks in advance.

Tell me: Does your "hacked zelda" have an IPS extension?

Ok look at your zelda hack. Is does it end in ips?

Ok. What you need is a real rom. What you have there is a patch to a rom. It's basically a little file that tells the patching program what changes to make in the rom. It isnt the rom. I, nor anyone else on this forum, is allowed to tell you where roms are. You have to use search engines and patience to get roms.

I see. Well thanks for the info. Also, one more question if it's allowed...once I'm able to find the real ROM, how do I go about installing the patch to it? I hope this question isn't illegal on this board.

You would need to use a patching utility found on this site. I suggest Lunar IPS.

Welcome to the wonderful world of emulation. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif> Out of curiosity...which hack is it? I haven't played all of them, but I did try one called Outlands that was really good.

Ok, my last question (for now anyways). Where can I find that patching utility you mentioned above? I checked around the site but couldn't find it. Thanks!
