Default So... I want to run linux on an xbox

Was searching through http://www.xbox-linux.org/ and noticed something about most of the methods of installing linux. You would never be able to unplug your xbox without major problems. What's a good method for installing linux on an xbox AND that allows me to unplug my xbox?

Get a mod chip. The only "unplugging" problem is with soft mods, which have been rumored to have been fixed, but a modchip is the way to go.

You can go with one of those solderless modchips. I hear they work fairly well and they don't cost a lot more than a chip that needs to be soldered. These still require your Xbox to be disassembled however.

Do you know where I can price one of these out? Also: I want to make this as cheap as I can for me to do.

Mod chips are unnecessary. And yes, the clock loop problem has been fixed. I went and softmodded my Xbox. It's been nearly a year since I've done so and I've had NO problems whatsoever, and it's totally reversable. I see no point in buying a mod chip, although they do make it easier to install new HDD's. (it is possible to install a new HDD with softmod though, it's just harder)

You can run Linux on your Xbox if it's softmodded. (I am)

What method did you use to softmod it?

The last softmod I used was "Big Fonts" with a Phoenix BIOS Loader. Haha. I bet that's old news, by now.

First, I used the DoubleDash method. Then I switched to UDE because I wanted to be able to open the DVD drive without the Xbox resetting.

You can read up on this stuff at xbox-scene.com. If you've got any questions, feel free to PM me.
