no matter what you're gonna have to go room by room and move them off visible screen. there is no one fixed location of items in the bank (8F which is where they are all stored, that is, level data, scroll data, plm data) but they are all acatter about, not grouped

Every time I try and load SMILE, I get a "Path not found." error. I looked in all the documents provided and got no help. Does my ROM have to be named something specific?

I'm assuming the error at least happens *after* seeing the pop-up that allows you to select a file??? If so, make sure your ROM is not Read-Only.

Nope, it's right as I double-click on SMILE.exe, it says-
"Run-time error "76":

Path not found."

Maybe there's something wrong with my computer, I'll look into it.

This is caused by one of two things:
1) The file you need isn't there
2) The file you need can't be accessed

Make sure you download the entire SMILE.zip, not just one of the betas, if that's what you did, as those don't have all the files. If you don't know what I'm talking about with the betas, then you have the full thing . . . Go into your SMILE/files/ folder and create a folder called "Temp" . . . That may or may not help.

As for #2 . . . Make sure you're not trying to run SMILE directly from the zip file. It will not run that way and must be unzipped to a folder.

Thanks, I figured out my problem, I had every file in the same folder as the SMILE program, and didn't have a SMILE\files folder. Now at least it loads, but it is still giving me a "Path not found." error each time I try and load a room. Same message as last time.

Chances are, you have some files in the wrong folder . . . There should be Temp, Enemies, PLM, etc...........

Did it unzip all into one folder or were you dragging them where you thought they might go? If it unzipped that way, what are you using to unzip them???

Ahh, I figured it out. Normally whenever I take things out of winzip, I never use the "extract" button and instead just select everything and stick all of it into the same folder. It was all my own mistake the whole time, sorry for bothering you so much on it. :P Problems are solved, thanks a bunch

Hey, I never expected ROM hacking to be a walk in the park. I've only had experience creating a Super Mario Bros. NES hack, moving up to a SNES Super Metroid is a big step for me, but practice makes perfect! Without those advanced coders who really know what they're doing though, the newbies wouldn't have any tools to work with and there would be far fewer hacks available! Thanks for at least making a general hacking tool for Super Metroid.
